Home Renovation
This 1950’s one and a half story home is located in a
great neighborhood on a premier lot in Edina.
The original floor plan included numerous small rooms that made it
difficult to entertain guests and was not conducive to the lifestyle of
the owners.
The owners decided that changes were
necessary to stay in the home and accommodate their lifestyle with a
family of six. Their remodeling goals were to make the floor plan more
“open”, increasing the size of the kitchen, while adding 4 bedrooms and
two baths upstairs. To do this Stonehearth added an addition off the back
of the home and replaced the single stall garage with a four car detached
garage. The garage now features an interchangeable space above it that is
heated and cooled, and can be used for a kids play area, home office or
storage.
Lastly the kitchen and living room were
remodeled, the three season porch received a makeover and the original
exterior Chicago brick
was retained and resorted. It was important throughout the entire house
remodel to maintain the historical architectural integrity of the exterior
to insure it continued to “fit” in the neighborhood.
